What can I do in LEA?
STARTUP JOB FAIR
Every year, the Startup Job Fair offers hundreds of UT Austin students an opportunity to network with fast-growing companies in the Austin startup scene. LEA agents reach out to startups who are interested in hiring interns or new grads and recruit them to attend the job fair. They work with the Marketing/Media & Creative teams to ensure the event is well marketed to students.
Our immersive Freshman Founders program is designed to expose first-year students to entrepreneurship as soon as they get to campus. The program has two components: Event Series and the Launchpad accelerator. LEA agents on this team are responsible for reaching out to freshmen at orientation and the start of the semester, organizing events for the students to interact with the local Austin startup community, and sourcing mentors from Austin startups. Agents organize the annual Demo Day for the Launchpad teams to pitch their ventures to a panel of top-tier judges.
THE CO-LAB & Student Entrepreneurship Center
LEA recently secured a co-working space for student startups at the UA9 building (2609 University Ave). Agents oversee community management (bringing other startup-related orgs into the space, educating them about the Co-Lab, and maintaining a schedule for event programming – similar to how Capital Factory allows outside groups to host meetups in their space).
UT ENTREPRENEURSHIP WEEK
Over the course of 1 week and 50+ events, we expose hundreds of UT students to aspects of entrepreneurship, technology, and creativity. It's a mini SXSW for UT Austin.
STARTUP NEWSLETTER (longhorninnovation.com)
This small team of agents oversees the weekly startup newsletter that’s a collaboration between over 20 different entrepreneurship organizations across campus. The newsletter includes a column that discusses what's happening in the UT startup scene, a list of hand-curated events, and links out to any interesting articles/podcasts created by students in the community.
